Housing in Rhawnhurst

   The housing market in Rhawnhurst is the most affordable of all of the Jewish communities on the east coast. 

   Currently, the typical price for a three-bedroom house starts at about 200K. Four bedroom houses start at 230K. There are also a wide selection of extremely clean and spacious apartments available also ranging from $725 per month for a two bedroom to about $800 per month and up for a three bedroom apartment. Some apartments also have front or backyards. 

   The Jewish Federation sponsors, constructs and manages subsidized housing for low and modest income elderly who can live in their own apartment. One such building, the 322 unit Samuel Tabas House at 2101 Strahle Street, is in Rhawnhurst. Applicants must be at least 62 years old, able to care for themselves and their apartments. Services from community agencies are coordinated by on-site social workers. Transportation and housekeeping available.
